The BNP on Friday criticized Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) KM Nurul Huda’s recent remarks about party registration.
“If there is any unwanted design about BNP’s registration, the Chief Election Commissioner should forget it,” said BNP Senior Joint Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi in a press briefing at the party’s Nayapaltan central office.
The BNP leader gave the warning mentioning the recent remarks of Chief Election Commissioner that BNP would fall into
registration risk if the party this time did not participate in the next Parliament polls.
The BNP leader questioned the CEC’s right to issue statement about existence of the BNP as a political party in case of their declining to participate in the national polls for the second time in a row.
“The CEC and the government should mind it that the registration of a popular party like BNP, remains in the hands of people,” Rizvi said.
He said, “The CEC is intimidating us so that we take part in the polls under Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. He is speaking as mouthpiece of BAKSAL.”
CEC said that polls in Khulna, Gazipur, Rajshahi, Barishal and other places were fair ones. It is easy for him to speak like this. BNP central leaders Abul Khair Bhuiyan, Ruhul Quddus Talukdar Dulu, Abdus Salam Azad, Munir Hossain, Asadul Karim Shaheen and Aminul Islam, among others, were present.
