Kishoreganj- 2 seat: BNP candidate , 30 others hurt in clash with 6 cops

BNP candidate Major (Retd.) for Kishoreganj- 2 (Katiadi-Pakundia) Major (Retd.) Md. Akhteruzzaman Ronjon and around 25/26 of his followers reportedly sustained received injuries during electioneering in Katiadi area of the constituency on Monday night.
Six police men were also injured in the incident, Additional Police Super (Promoted S.P) Md. Nazmul Islam said.
Talking to The New Nation BNP leaders claimed police intercepted Ex. MP Major (Retd.) Akhteruzzaman Ronjon when he along with his leaders and activists was campaigning in Katiadi.
At one stage, police falter at the BNP men leaving including BNP candidate Akhteruzzaman Ronjon.
The injured police men are A.S.I Noor, S.I Bazlul Huda, A.S.I Tamiul, Nazrul, Taslim and Jasim.
Katiadi Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Md. Shamsuddin Ahamed said Ronjon along with a procession was heading towards Katiadi around 9.00 P.M as part of his election cmpaign.
Fearing unrest in the area, police tried to halt the procession, but Ronjon’s followers including Jamaat-Shivir being enraged, started pelting brick chips at the law enforcers he said police also detained two people including from the spots in this connection.
Major (Retd.) Akhteruzzaman Ronjon is contesting the election against Former IGP & Sr. Secretary Awami League Candidate Noor Mohammad.
BNP Chairperson’s advisor Former M.P Advocate Fazlur Rahman said that most of leaders and activists were arrested without case and leagal cause.
Kishoreganj Sadar Police held Sadar Upazila Chairman Advocate Shariful Islam on Tuesday noon.
