Staff Reporter: Rejecting the Dhaka’s two city polls results the BNP has called a daylong strike from dawn till dusk tomorrow (Sunday) in Dhaka city.
“We are rejecting the city elections completely. So, the dawn-to-dusk hartal will be observed in the city on Sunday,” said BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir at a press conference in the party’s Nayapaltan central office at Saturday night.
Earlier on the day, the party submitted a written complaint to the Election Commission over irregularities centring the Dhaka South and North city corporation elections.
A BNP delegation led by the party’s Standing Committee member Amir Khasru Mahmud Chowdhury handed over the complaint to the commission.
BNP alleged that polling agents of the party nominated candidates were not allowed to enter the voting centres in different areas of the capital.
“In many centers, they were physically assaulted and driven away from the centres,” Amir Khasru told journalists after submitting the party’s complaints to the EC.
