UNB, Dhaka :Claiming that people are spontaneously observing the hartal, BNP joint-secretary general Ruhul Kabir Rizvi on Monday alleged that the government agents are torching vehicles and carrying out various subversive acts over their daylong shutdown programme.”The government has once again indulged in its old dirty game as it did before the January-5 election. The government with its agents are torching public vehicles to shift the blame onto the opposition,” he said.Rizvi came up with the allegations while talking to reporters about their shutdown programme at BNP’s Nayapaltan central office. He alleged that the government is obstructing their peaceful programme and arresting their leaders and activists. The BNP leader also claimed that police opened fire on a procession of their party’s voluntary unit Swechchasebak Dal in the city’s Pallabi area, leaving their activist wounded with rubber bullets. He said, the government has resorted to repressive acts to suppress the opposition’s movement and reestablish a one-party rule.Rizvi said, the party men are stuck to the streets across the country braving the government’s repressive acts, as people extended their spontaneous support to their hartal. He alleged that police are preventing BNP leaders and activists from entering the party’s Nayapaltan central office.Police kept the BNP central office cordoned off since morning and arrested two activists from the main gate as they tried to enter it.Meanwhile, an anti-hartal procession brought out by Bangladesh Chhatra League paraded the Nayapaltan area in the morning.
