The BNP has blamed the ruling Awami League for damage of dwelling houses and temples of the Hindus at Nasirnagar upazila of Brahmanbaria district on October 30. The party also called upon the government to step down from the power and to provide financial helps to the victims.
“The expulsion of three local Awami League leaders proved that the ruling party was involved with
the synchronised attack on the Hindus at Nasirnagar,” Major (Rtd) Hafiz Uddin Ahmed, the Vice-Chairman of the BNP, said it while addressing a press conference on Saturday at the party Chairperson’s Gulshan office on their findings at Nasirnagar of Brahmanbaria after he led a team there on Friday.
Hafiz demanded a judicial inquiry to identify and to award exemplary punishment to the real perpetrators.
The BNP leader said, the victim families said that the attack took place at 1 pm, but the police reached the spot at 5pm. It proved that the law enforcers were not honest to prevent the incidents.
“The first day attack may be taken as an unexpected incident, but the new attack proved that conspiracy was behind the incidents,” he said.
Brahmanbaria district Awami League on Friday suspended three local leaders of Awami League on charge of their involvement in carrying out attack on Hindus.
BNP Chairperson’s Advisor Sanjib Chowdhury, central leader Gautam Chakrabarti, Barrister Mahbub Uddin Khokon, Abdul Awal Khan and Barrister Fahima Munni, among others, were present.
On October 30, an unruly mob equipped with sharp weapons went berserk and demolished a number of Hindu temples and houses in Nasirnagar upazila after a Facebook post demeaning the Holy Kaaba by a local youth Rasaraj Das.
