BNP-backed Enamul, AL-backed Ziauddin elected CDBA President, GS

Bangladesh Nationalist Party-backed Mohammad Enamul Hoque from Ainjibi Oikya Parishad and Awami League-backed candidate Abul Hossain Mohammad Ziauddin from Chattogram Sommilito Ainjibi Somonnoy Parishad have been elected president and general secretary respectively in Chattogram District Bar Association election.
Chief election commissioner Advocate Mohammad Humuyon Akter declared the polls results of CDBA early Thursday.
Of the total 19 posts, pro-AL backed Chattogram Sommilito Ainjibi Somonnoy Parishad lawyer panel secured 13 posts including general secretary while BNP-backed Jatiyatabadi Ainjibi Oikya Parishad candidate lawyer panel got rest six posts including president.
BNP-backed candidate advocate Mohammad Enamul Hoque from Ainjibi Oikya Parishad was elected president receiving 1,835 votes while his nearest competitor AL-backed lawyer advocate Abu Mohammad Hashem from Chattogram Sommilito Ainjibi Somonnoy Parishad got 1,549 votes, CEC said.
Pro-AL candidate Abul Hossain Mohammad Ziauddin was elected general secretary with 1,945 votes while Mohammad Touhidul Monir Tipu from Somomona Ainjibi Sangsad got 720 votes.
The daylong voting of the election concluded around 4:00pm starting from 8:00am on Wednesday.
A total of 3423 lawyers, out of 4,402, casted their votes.
