BNP on Tuesday submitted a letter to the Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) demanding Army deployment in Narayanganj one weak ahead of its city election billed for December 22. A BNP delegation, led by party senior joint secretary
general Ruhul Kabir Rizvi, went to the EC secretariat with the letter signed by its General Secretary Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir.
The delegation handed over the letter to EC Secretary Mohammad Abdullah.
From the very beginning of the announcement of schedule for the Narayanganj City Corporation (NCC) election, BNP has been demanding army deployment for a free and fair balloting.
Talking to reporters after handing over the letter, Rizvi said, “We hope the current Election Commission will take good initiatives at the fag end of its tenure to brighten its image. We’ve demanded army deployment in Narayanganj seven days ahead of the voting for ensuring fair polling.”
