BSS, Dhaka :
Information Minister Dr Hasan Mahmud on Friday said BNP is now afraid of going to the upcoming Upazila (UZ) polls after facing debacle in the last parliamentary elections.
“BNP is afraid of going to participate in the forthcoming Upazila elections after facing the political disaster in the last parliamentary elections held on December 30 in 2018,” he said after the campaign committee meeting at the party president’s political office in city’s Dhanmondi area.
Talking about the participation in the UZ elections, he said that it is their (BNP) personal decision whether they will go to the polls or not.
“BNP did not take part in the 2014’s elections but the government was formed in that election without them and ran the country for five years successfully,” he said.
“It will be a suicidal attempt of them for not participating in the polls as like the previous times,” he added.
He said if BNP do not go to the Upazila elections, the elections will not stop.
PM’s Political Adviser HT Imam, Posts, Telecommunications and Information Technology Minister Mustafa Jabbar, Awami League Deputy Publicity Secretary Aminul Islam Amin and Sheikh Tanmoy were present in the meeting.
