BNP activist shot dead in Jashore

An activist of opposition Bangladesh Nationalist Party was stabbed and shot dead by miscreants at a place near Golpata Mosque at Shankarpur in Jashore town at around 5pm on Sunday.
The dead was identified as Moshiar Rahman,45, son of Takabbar Sheikh of Shankarpur and an activist of BNP. M Ripon, nephew of the victim told that miscreants led by Dablue, Mamun, Moni and Sumon stabbed and shot Mashiar to death chasing him from a grocery shop owned by Iqbal Hossain, nephew of the victim, to yard of his neighbour Abdul Hamid at around 5pm on Sunday.
Dr Abdur Rashid, medical officer, Jashore General Hospital told that the victim died soon after he was rushed to the hospital at around 5:30pm. ‘He was stabbed to death. He could be shot too,’ he added.
Munir Ahmed Siddiqui, General Secretary, Jashore Town Unit BNP told that the dead was an activist of BNP.
Apurba Hasan, officer in-charge, Kotwali police station, however, did not respond to newsmen.
