UNB, Dhaka :
BNP on Wednesday alleged that the government has completed all the necessary steps to ‘abolish’ democracy from the country forever by restoring ‘one-party Baksal rule’.
“The country is now in a deep crisis as all the arrangements for abolishing democracy from it has almost been completed as part of a conspiracy to restore one-party rule,” said BNP secretary
general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir.
Speaking at a discussion, he also alleged that the people of Bangladesh are now ‘confined’ to a jail as the government has ‘snatched’ all of their rights.
Pro-BNP student leaders of Dhaka University Central Students’ Union (Ducsu) and All-Party Students’ Unity (Apsu) of the 90s arranged the programme at the Jatiya Press Club, demanding BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia’s release.
Fakhrul urged his party colleagues to get united to foil the government’s plot to destroy democracy. “As the leaders of a political party, it’s our sacred duty to protect democracy.” He said, their party leaders must work for organising people and launching a united movement to restore their all ‘lost’ rights and democracy. “It won’t be possible to make any movement a success without involving people.
