The closing parade of the graduating batch of 2019, consisting of 773 graduates of Bangladesh Navy, was held at the Titumir Parade Ground at Khulna Naval Base.
Chief of Naval Staff (CNS) Admiral Aurangzeb took the salute as the parade and march-past went by. He then distributed prizes among the graduates for their outstanding results, according to a press release sent by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR).
In his speech, Admiral Aurangzeb recounted the immense contribution of Father of the Nation Sheikh Mujibur Rahman to the Liberation War and paid respects to the deceased navy officers and freedom fighters, who made their ultimate sacrifices in 1971.
He also said that, under the guidance and leadership of Bangabandhu’s daughter Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, the country has taken great leaps of development and advancement in both its economic and military sectors, with the navy in particular undergoing considerable improvement.
“Various short and long term projects have been undertaken to upgrade the navy into a formidable, state-of-the-art force. With the addition of warships, maritime patrol aircraft, helicopters, specialized force squads, and submarines,” he added.
He concluded by asking the young naval trainees to use the knowledge they had garnered from the naval academy to become deserving, fit sailors.
Several other high-ranking officials, eminent locals, civil servants, journalists, and families of the graduating sailors were present at the event.
