On the occasion of Mujibvarsha, Barind Multipurpose Development Authority (BMDA) inaugurated a virtual tree planting program under BMDA Rangpur’s “Irrigation Extension EIRP in Greater Rangpur District through Best Use of Surface Water and Conservation of Rainwater” project on Saturday morning.
Former Member of Parliament and Member of Bangladesh Awami League Central Committee Begum Akhter Jahan, Chairman, Barind Multipurpose Develo-pment Authority, BMDA, inaugurated the tree planting program on Saturday morning as a virtual chief guest. On this occasion, re-excavated dead Teesta canal bank of Badarganj upazila of Rangpur, re-excavated Boal Dara canal of Berubari union of Nageshwari upazila of Kurigram and re-excavated Aola pond bank of Gobindaganj upazila of Gaibandha district were inaugurated in 2021-22. BMDA Executive Director Engineer Mohammad Abdur Rashid, Badarganj Upazila Parishad Chairman Fazle Rabbi Suite, Nageshwari Upazila Parishad Chairman Mostafa Zaman were special guests on the occasion. Masum and BMDA executive engineers Harun R Rashid, AKM Mashiur Rahman and Shafiqul Islam, Berubari Union Parishad chairman Abdul Mottaleb.
On the occasion of BMDA Mujib Year, 3,500 different varieties of fruit saplings in 35 upazilas of 5 districts of Greater Rangpur and 46,000 varieties of fruit, forest and Has taken up the program of planting medicinal plant saplings. At that time, the Upazila Parishad chairmen demanded the proper preservation and beautification of all these, including the planting of trees on the banks of the canals in their respective areas. BMDA Chairman Begum Akhter Jahan called upon all concerned district and upazila administrations to cooperate in all development activities of Barind Multipurpose Development Authority.
