Blogger Niloy murder accused Sohel put on 4-day remand

Banned outfit Ansarul Al Islam activist Abu Siddik Sohel was yesterday placed on a four-day remand in the case filed for killing blogger Niladri Chattopadhyay Niloy, two years back.
Magistrate Md Khurshid Alam of the Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Court of Dhaka passed the order on Tuesday after police’s Detective Branch Inspector Mohammad Bahauddin Faruki, who is also the
investigation officer of the case sought a ten-day remand for quizzing Sohel.
On August 7, unidentified assailants hacked blogger Niladri to death in his house in the capital in broad daylight. He was a Gonojagoron Mancha activist, and the fourth blogger, killed in 2015 by suspected Islamist militants.
On November 6, Sohel made confession before a Dhaka court when told the court that he and seven others took part in the murder of writer and blogger Avijit Roy, a Bangladesh-born US citizen who was hacked to death on Dhaka University campus where he along with his wife Rafida Ahmed Bonya in 2015. They were returning from the book fair on the occasion of February 21.
