A blogger named Ananta Bijoy Das was hacked to death by a group of assailants in broad daylight at Subidbazar Bankalapara in the city on Tuesday morning. Officer-in-charge of Airport Police Station Gousul Hossain said a gang of unidentified miscreants attacked Ananta Bijoy Das, also worker of Sylhet Ganajagaran Mancha, in the area at about 9:00 am. At one stage, they chopped Ananta indiscriminately with sharp weapons and fled the scene, leaving him seriously injured. He was rushed to Sylhet Osmani Medical College Hospital where on-duty doctors declared him dead. Police are investigating the incident and motive behind the killing will be clear after investigation, the OC added. – Sylhet, May 12 (UNB)
