Aggrieved students lifted blockade on the Dhaka-Chittagong highway, and traffic resumes.
Hundreds of college students in Daudkandi upazila of Comilla district blocked the Dhaka-Chittagong highway since Sunday morning protesting the death of a fellow student.
Students of Hasanpur Shaheed Nazrul Government Degree College lifted their blockade following the authorities’ assurance of justice, media reports.
Earlier, the angry students took to the street around 11:30am and blocked the highway.
Around a 12-kilometre tailback has been created on both sides of the highway due to the blockade
Earlier on Saturday morning, Mahmuda Akhter, student of XI of the college, was crushed under the wheels of a truck. Another student was also injured during the accident.
Police seized the truck but its driver managed to flee the scene.
