Blockade hits tourism in Kuakata

The tourism sector of the country, especially in Kuakata is passing critical times due to blockade programmes called by BNP and its allies. As a result this buzzing sector is facing serious financial losses.
Kuakata was abuzz with the presence of numerous tourists, who came to visit during the recent Christmas, new-year celebrations and weekly holidays.
But in the last several days, the main tourist destination is experiencing an acute scarcity of tourists due to political programmes, particularly blockade called by BNP and its allies.
President of Kuakata Hotel-Motel, Guest House Owners’ Association Md. Motaleb Sharif said, there are one hundred hotels and motels in Kuakata.
Seventy percent of the hotels and motels remained vacant in the recent days. As a result, the owners of the hotels and motels are incurring huge losses.
He also said, their hotels are faced with the problems of scarcity of guests. The government-run hotels and motels under Bangladesh Parjatan Corporation are also incurring losses, he further said.
