Bangladesh national blind cricket team expect to bring a good result in their maiden appearance of ODI Blind Cricket World Cup scheduled to be held on November 26 to December 9 in Cape town, South Africa.
“Our blind cricket team has been undergoing a two-month rigorous practice camp …. Our preparation is good and we are expecting a good result in the World Cup,” said national blind cricket team manager M Taizuddin at a press conference held on Sunday at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium.
He said the camp has been undergoing under the patronization Manikganj-2 Law Maker Momtaz Begum at Joymonontop high school ground keeping ahead of the tournament in Singair Upazila under Manikganj district.
Asked behind the reason of high expectation the team manager said the blind cricket team finished 8th position in the T20 World Cup held in 2012 and boosted by the result in T20 World Cup the team again expecting a good result. The Wolrd Cup matches will be held 40 over-a-side.
Bangladesh placed in group B in the World Cup and will play the opening match against Australia, said the team manager.
However he failed to give the details of the fixture schedule of the World Cup. Bangladesh team is expected to leave for South Africa on Friday (November 28).
Later the logo of jersey of national blind cricket team for the World Cup was also unveiled at the press conference.
Apart from Bangladesh, blind cricket teams from Australia, New Zealand England, West Indies, South Africa, India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka and Nepal will compete in the ODI Blind World Cup World Cup.
Bangladesh Blind Cricket Council (BBCC) chairman M Harun-ur-Rashid, senior vice chairman Dr. AKM Harun-ur-Rashid Mujumder, vice chairman Lion Alhaj Didarul Alam Chowdhury, BBCC Director (admin) Syed Kamrul Islam and team manager M Taijuddin were, among others, present on the occasion.
Bangladesh blind cricket team: Hafizur Rahman Bulet (captain), Badal Kumar Das (vice captain), Monir Rana, M Shahadat Hosssain, Shahinul Haque Joy, M Nayeem Mamun, M Solaiman Badsha, M Alam Islam, M Shakib Ahmed, M Mahbub Morshed, M Ibrahim Ali, Alamin, Tanjilur Rahman, M Shaheen Mia, Khorshed Alam, Ripon Borua and Aminur Islam.
