An explosion occurred in the wash and the ablution rooms of the District and Sessions Judge Court in Narayanganj on Thursday afternoon.
The incident damaged window pens. However there was no report of injury.
Police detained a beggar woman identified as Champa Begum in this connection, police and court sources said.
Quoting the witnesses, Narayanganj Bar Association President Advocate Sakhawat
Hossain Khan said panic spread across the court premises after the explosion.
“Some of our lawyers have, earlier, received threat. Had the administration looked into the matter at that time, then such incident would not have happened,” the lawyer said.
Neither police nor the administration could confirm whether it was a bomb explosion, court sources said.
Ehsanuddin Chowdhury, Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) of Criminal Investigation Department (CID) in Narayanganj Zone, said that police were investigating the matter.
Law enforcers suspected that the extremists might have been involved with the incident, the police official said.
