About two hundred blankets have been distributed among the 150 poor families of Raozan Poura ward No.9 on Monday night. Panel Mayor Md. Zamiruddin Parvez personally visited the houses of poors and distributed the blankets .The people of hill encircled Raozan upazila are passing hard days with the untolerable winter.
The recent cold waves accompanied with chilled winds and dense fogs has made life difficulties especially for the low income people of the hilllocked Raozan upazila , as the hostile weather adds to their sufferings. The persistent dense fog for the last few days has also disrupted road communications.
The northern wind along with ongoing moderate cold wave has already made the lives of the poor miserable.Day labours, hawkers and makeshift vendors have to open their shop late in the morning and close early at night as both the sellers and buyers are affected by the ongoing cold wave.
Elderly people, children and new-born babies are mostly vulnerable to sickness with the biting cold sweeping the region. Many of them are suffering from pneumonia,” said a physician in the Munshirgatha .
The elderly people of poura areas prayed for long life of the Panel Mayor and bless to Almighty Allah for his well health. One vagabond mad Faruk also express happy getting a blanket and bless the panel mayor.
Md. Zamiruddin Parvez told this reporter that as a part of distributing warm clothes to remote rural and urban areas , this process distributing blankets will continue for next two weeks.
They have estimated to distributed minimum 500 blankets in the Raozan urban areas. During the distribution programs, local Jubo league and chatra league leaders were also present.
