Blankets distributed among cold-hit people

Under the auspices of Khan Habibur Rahman, Mayor of Bagerhat Pourashava blankets were distributed among 3 thousand destitute people of Bagerhat district town in a simple but an impressive function held in the Pourashava Auditorium on Friday afternoon with the mayor in the chair. Shaikh Helal Uddin, nephew of the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Shaikh Mujibor Rahman and MP of Bagerhat Constituency-1 distributed the blankets among the cold -hit people as Chief Guest. He said, no people will suffer from biting of cold in the country as warm clothes are being supplied to them by the Government in the rural areas as well as in the towns. The function was also addressed among others by Alhaj Adv Mir Shawkat Ali Badsha, MP , Bagerjhat Constitguency-2, freedom fighter Shaikh Kamruzzaman Tuku, Chairman , Bagerhat Zila Parishad, Tapan Kumar Biswas, DC, Bagerhat and Pankaj Chandra Roy, Policed Super of Bagerhat. Mujibor Raman Shamim, UpazilaCahirman of Chitalmari, Shaikh Mahfuzur Raman, Upazila Chairman of Kachua, Firojul Islam, PS to Shaikh Helal Uddin, Ahad Haidar, President , Bagerhat Press Club, Alhaj Abdul Baki Talukdar, Secretary , t Bagerhat Press Club, Nihar Ranjan Saha, Vice Chairman of the Club, Shaikh Bashirul Islam, UP Cahirman of Karapara and President of Bagerhat Paurashava Awami League and others were present at the function.
BSS from Chapainawabganj adds: The 59 battalion of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) distributed blankets among cold-hit people in Chanshikari and Polladanga areas under Bholahat upazila of the district on Sunday.
Commanding Officer (CO) of the battalion Lieutenant Colonel Md Rashed Ali as the chief guest distributed 320 blankets among the distressed people at a simple function at Bholahat Rameswar Pilot High School here. A total of 180 men, 120 female and 20 orphans were provided with blankets.
