Bangladesh Knitwear Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BKMEA) on Sunday signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Swisscontact Bangladesh, a non-government organisation, over providing training to the female workers of BKMEA.
BKMEA Vice- President Fazle Shamim Ehsan and Swisscontact’s Project leader Syeda Ishrat Fatema signed the MoU on behalf of their respective organisations, said a press release.
A total of 120 female workers of under the “Sharthi Progress through Financial Inclusion” project operated by Swisscontact, will get the training on health safety, productivity, leadership, skill development and safety in workplaces.
Later, factories will select supervisors from the trained female workers.
After signing the MoU, Fazle Shamim said readymade garments is the top source of export earnings in the country where most of the workers are female.
“This project will potentially enhance the skills and production capacity of female workers.”, he said.
