Bangladesh Krishi Bank in Khulna (KKB) regional office has set a target to disburse agricultural loans worth Tk 590 crore in five districts under Khulna division during the current fiscal year (FY) 2014-15.
Regional office in KKB will disburse the loan through its 88 branches for boosting crop production and to help boost rural economy as well as generating employment through enhancing agricultural and non agricultural production in all the nine upazilas under the district and in the city.
The target has also been set to recover loans of Tk 502.40 crore to deposit Tk 200 crore, said General Manager of Bangladesh Krishi Bank in Khulna Regional Office Md. Abul Quasem.
Target has been fixed to disburse Tk 200 crore as crop loan, Tk 150 crore as fishery, Tk 50 crore as animal resource, Tk 5 crore as agricultural and irrigation machinery, Tk 18 crore as agro based industry, Tk 5 crore as poverty alleviation, Tk 55 crore as SME loan and Tk 93.70 crore for other need-based sectors. Abul Quasem told BSS, Khulna Regional Office of Krishi Bank has been functioning through two administrative divisions for last two years to provide better service to the farmers as well as small entrepreneurs.
Khulna, Satkhira, Bagerhat, Jessore and Narail districts are functioning under Khulna Regional Office while Kushtia, Jhenidah, Chuadanga, Meherpur and Magura districts are functioning under Kushtia Regional Office under Khulna division, he said. In Khulna administrative division, the bank has set a target of disbursing Tk. 590 crore as loans among 60,000 farmers and recovering Tk 502 crore through its 88 branches in the region. Quasem said during the fiscal 2013-14, KKB disbursed loan of Tk 450 crore and recovered Tk 449.97 crore including 42.47 classified loans and added that in 2012-13 fiscal, KKB disbursed Tk 432 crore as loans among 42,000 farmers and small entrepreneurs and recovered Tk. 439 crore including classified and outstanding loans. Banking services will be updated in different branches here through introducing online, SMS banking and ATM booths for the customers with a view to reaching better banking services to the doorsteps to the people, he said.
