Bangladesh Krishi Bank (BKB) has disbursed Taka 31.58 as agricultural loans among 3,158 farmers of the district during the first six months of the current fiscal year 2016-17.
BKB sources said the bank has earmarked Tk 98.45 crore for distribution as agriculture loan among farmers of the district in the current fiscal. The percentage of loan disbursement by the bank through 21 branches in the district stood at 32 percent as of December 31.
Meanwhile, the BKB realized Tk. 32,42,42,000 from 3,163 farmers during the same period against the target of Taka 103.40 crore outstanding loan. The loan recovery in the district stood at 31 percent as of December 31.
Deputy general manager of Narsingdi region of the bank Humayan Khaled told BSS that the BKB as a specialized bank has been playing a vital role in our nation building activities.
He said the BKB generally disburses agricultural loan for crop cultivation, pisciculture, livestock sector, setting of poultry farms, purchasing of agriculture equipments, small trading, marketing of agricultural products and socio-economic development activities.
