The BJP today slammed Arvind Kejriwal and P Chidambaram for asking for the video evidence of the surgical strikes conducted by the Indian Army across the Line of Control
in Jammu and Kashmir last week. “Why is Kejriwal being swayed by the Pakistani propaganda? Kejriwal ji, there is a tradition to remain united at a time of crisis,” Union Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad said, a day after the Delhi Chief Minister asked Prime Minister Narendra Modi to show proof of the cross-border strike.
Prasad said Kejriwal is “now making headlines in Pakistan” for his doubts over Indian Army’s operation in which 50 suspected terrorists were gunned down. “Kejriwal must not mix politics with national security,” he said.
“My question to Kejriwal is whether he believes in the extreme valour of the Indian Army,” Prasad asked, asking the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader to “not demoralise the Army” by asking for the proof.
Prasad also attacked senior Congress leader P Chidmabaram and demanded to know if the former Finance Minister’s comments were official statement of the Congress party. “I want to ask him if he is also joining the bandwagon of doubting the capacity of our jawans in conducting surgical strikes,” he said.
Chidmabaram on Monday said it was up to the government to give proof of the surgical strikes conducted on September 28 night in which the army destroyed seven terror launch pads in Pakistan-administered Kashmir.
“We would like to ask Sonia Gandhi ji if that is the official position of the Congress party on this issue? If that is the case, then we would examine it and have some questions to ask from them,” Prasad said.
The AAP hit back at the BJP, asking why Prasad is not unmasking the Pakistani propaganda. “I am amazed that Ravi Shankar Prasad instead of unmasking Pak Propaganda is questioning AK. Shows BJP’s bankruptcy of ideas,” AAP leader Ashutosh tweeted.
Kejriwal had on Monday “saluted” PM Modi for the surgical strikes with a caveat: that he must come up with the video of the Indian Army’s operation to “expose Pakistan’s false propaganda” on the strikes.

In a three-minute video message, Kejriwal mainly focused on Pakistan’s claims that no surgical strike was ever conducted on terrorist launch pads across the LoC and urged Modi to fight Pakistan’s propaganda “just like we have been fighting Pakistan on ground”.
“Only yesterday, CNN was showing a report how Pakistan took few media persons to the spot of strike to show that no such thing happened, and showed them kids playing and people living as usual. My blood came to a boil when I saw that report,” he said.
Soon after Kejriwal’s message on Monday, #AKBacksModiOnPak hashtag started trending on Twitter with many AAP supporters also tweeting to PM Modi for the proof.
