BJMC retain Women’s Handball title

Bangladesh Jute Mills Corporation (BJMC) maintained their supremacy as retained the title of EXIM Bank 28th National Women’s Handball competition beating Bangladesh Ansar by 32-21 goals in the final held on Friday at Shaheed Captain M Mansur Ali Handball Stadium in the city.
The winners’ led the first half by 17-10 goals.
With this win, BJMC clinched the women’s handball title for fourth consecutive occasions in a row.
In the day’s match, Dalia was the highest scorer with nine goals while Khelda netted six goals for the winners. Ismat Ara scored eight goals for the losers.
Dalia Akter of BJMC was named the player of the match for his impressive performance in the competition.
Meanwhile, Police Handball Club finished third position in the competition beating Panchagarh district by 22-1 3 goals (first half 10-6) in the day’s third place-deciding encounter also held at the same venue.
EXIM Bank director Alhaj Nurul Amin Farque was the chief guest in the final and distributed the prizes. Bangladesh Handball Federation (BHF) vice president Nurul Islam, organizing committee’s secretary Salahuddin Ahmed were, among others, present on the occasion.
BHF president Nurul Fazal Bulbul presided over the closing ceremony.
Earlier, on Thursday on way to the final, BJMC beat Panchagarh district by 36-14 goals after leading the first half by 22-11 goals in the first semi-final while Bangladesh Ansar defeated Bangladesh Police Handball Club by 30-16 goals after dominating the first half by 18-8 goals in the second semis.
