Textiles and Jute Minister Golam Dastagir Gazi on Wednesday said as per the promise of the Prime Minister, the dues of all the mill workers of Bangladesh Jute Mills Corporation (BJMC) will be paid fully by next November.
He was speaking at a press conference at the Secretariat this afternoon on the payment of dues to retired workers of BJMC’s closed mills.
Textile and Jute Secretary Lokman Hossain Mia, Additional Secretary Mohammad Abul Kalam were present at the press conference.
The minister said so far, a total of Taka 1,790.52 crore has been received from the Finance Department for the payment of dues of retired workers of BJMC’s closed mills.
On October 25, the workers of 2 more mills (Hafiz Jute Mill in Chattogram and Eastern Jute Mills of Khulna) will start paying their dues, he said, adding that it is hoped that in this process it will be possible to fully pay the dues of all the mill workers within the next month.
