BJMC emerged as the champions of the EXIM Bank 26th National Women’s Handball Competition beating Bangladesh Ansar by 28-19 goals at the Shaheed (Captain) M Mansur Ali National Handball Stadium on Saturday.
BJMC led the first half 13-7.
Shirina of BJMC scored 10 goals and her teammate Dalia netted six goals while Rubina of Bangladesh Ansar scored seven goals and her teammate Nishi netted five goals.
Shirina of BJMC was adjudged the Player of the Tournament.
Meanwhile, Bangladesh Police finished third defeating Naogaon district team by 14-7 goals in a place-deciding match at the same venue on the same day.
Police had a 9-2 goals’ lead in the first session.
Hasina and Ani of Bangladesh Police scored five goals each while Nur Jahan and Akhi of Naogaon district team returned two each.
After the final match, Chairman of the Red Crescent Society Hafiz Ahmed Majumder distributed the prizes among the winners as the chief guest while WIM Rani Hamid and Samina Muhith were with him as special guests.
President of Bangladesh Handball Federation AKM Nurul Fazal Bulbul presided over the prize-giving ceremony.
Senior Vice-President of Bangladesh Handball Federation (BHF) Quamrun Nahar Dana, Vice-President of BHF Hasan Ullah Khan Rana, Acting General Secretary of the Federation Md Nurul Islam, Secretary of the Organizing Committee Md Salahuddin Ahmed, Joint-Secretary of the Organizing Committee Rashida Afzalunnesa were present, among others.
