Team BJMC started their season campaign with a winning note beating old horse Rahmatganj MFS by 1-0 goal in a hard-fought opening match of the KFC Independence Cup Football Tournament at Bangabandhu National Stadium here on Friday.BFF president Kazi Salahuddin inaugurated the season’s curtain raiser as the chief guest.Nigerian forward Elita Kingsley scored the match-winning goal for BJMC in the 39th minute by a free kick from the top of the box that kissed the net deflecting defensive wall and Rahmatganj custodian Al Amin (1-0).Earlier in the 36th minute, Nurul Absar made a good shot off a Sohel cross, but BJMC custodian Arifuzzaman Himel saved the castle brilliantly.Rahmatganj forward Syed Rashed Turjo came close to make equaliser in the 61st minute but his powerful side volley from the middle of the box was parried away by BJMC goalie Arifuzzaman Himel.Team BJMC got a penalty in the 69th minute when Rahmatganj defender Sumon Dey committed a handball in the danger zone.But Rahmatganj goalkeeper Al-Amin saved his castle foiling the penalty kick taken by Elita Kingsley.
