Bangladesh Inland Water Transport Corporation (BIWTC) will build two shallow draft oil tankers to be available by 2021. The capacity of each tanker will be 400,000 litters and the corporation will build those with its own fund.
Shipping Ministry Secretary M Abdus Samad on Wednesday disclosed it while presiding over a
meeting at his office in the capital, a press release said.
High officials of the Ministry and the BIWTC, including its Chairman, Romoy Kanti Biswas, Additional Secretary of the Ministry of Shipping Shahadat Hossain, M M Tariqul Islam, Sanjay Kumar Banik and BIWTC Chief Engineer Motahar Hossain were also present at the meeting.
These two tankers will be built with BIWTC’s own fund. It was informed in the meeting that the tankers would be available by June 2021.
