BIWTA will soon introduce four water buses for crossing Buriganga River at Sadarghat-Keraniganj point. The Ministry of Shipping took the decision at a development, financial and administrative meeting of Bangladesh Inland Water Transport Authority (BIWTA) at the ministry’s conference room on Thursday.
Shipping Secretary Md. Abdus Samad and Acting Chairman of BIWTA Tajul Islam, among others, were present at the meeting with State Minister for Shipping Khalid Mahmud Chowdhury in the chair. BIWTA has 12 water buses, four of them will be used for crossing Buriganga. The meeting emphasized expanding the standard of services to all passenger ships and ferry services. The meeting also directed BIWTA to be more conscious about the use of its assets.
