Barishal City Corporation started two day- long Mujib Centenary and national children’s day rogrammes by drawing Alpana on city roads Monday afternoon.
City AL secretary and BCC Mayor Serniabad Sadik Abdullah along with councilors, officials and mployees led the programme with assistances from Charukala Barishal from front of Nagor Bhavan.
The other programmes of BCC observe dthe Mujib Centenary include lightening fire crackers on zero-hour of the day, hoist national flag paid floral tributes on portrait of father of the nation in front of BCC Annex Bhavan yesterday.
A blood donation programme organised by Bangabondhu Club of SBMCH in front of Nagor Bhavan, distributing rickshaw among the poor destitute rickshaw pullers and van to the sweepers, special prayers among at the different religious institutions at noon, cultural programme in front of Nagor Bhavan by Sangskritik Sangothan Samannoy Parishad . City and district AL and its front organisations also hoist party flag, paid floral tribute on portrait of Bangabondhu, discussion meeting at party office on Tuesday.
Besides Barishal District Administration brought out a procession, gave floral tributes at the portrait of Bangabondhu, and distributed financial grants, discussion meeting, and cultural function were held on this occasion.
Dupchanchia (Bogura) Correspondent says: The 100 birth anniversary of the Bangabandhu and National Children’s Day was observed in Dupachania upazila of Bogura yesterday through various programme.
A discussion meeting on Sheikh Mujibur Rahman was presided over by president of Bangladesh Puja Udjapon porishad Dupchanchia upazila branch Asim Kumar Das while Upazila Mahila Vice Chairman Mahbuba Nasrin spoke here as chief guest.
Field supervisor of Hindu Religious Welfare Trust Emdadul Haque was present as the special guest on the occasion.
On the occasion of the birth anniversary of Bangabandhu and National Children’s Day, the speakers shed light on Bangabandhu’s life and cut cake marking the day.
BSS from Rajshahi adds: The birth centenary of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and National Children Day-2020 is being celebrated here in a befitting manner yesterday.
Rajshahi City Corporation (RCC), Divisional and district administrations, corporate bodies, educational institutions, Awami League (AL), its associate organisations, Bangabandhu Shishu Kishor Mela, socio-cultural and children organisations have celebrated the day through elaborate programmes.
The day’s programmes heralded with 31 gunshots at district police line at dawn. Subsequently, national flags were hoisted atop all public and private buildings.
Other programmes include placing wreaths at the portrait of Bangabandhu, cutting birthday cake, tree plantation, unfolding of books on year-round programmes of Mujib Borsho, screening of documentary films and illumination of important government, non-government and autonomous buildings and installations.
At 10.40 am, RCC Mayor AHM Khairuzzaman Liton accompanied by his office colleagues placed wreaths at the portrait of Bangabandhu at city Bhaban premises.
On behalf of the city unit president of Bangladesh Awami League, Liton also placed wreaths at the portraits of Bangabandhu and four national leaders at Alupatty Bangabandhu Crossing in the city.
Various government and non-government organisations, social and cultural bodies, valiant Freedom Fighters and politicians placed floral wreaths at the portrait of Bangabandhu at Collectorate Building premises.
Divisional Commissioner Humayun Kabir Khandaker, Deputy Inspector General of Police AKM Hafiz Akter, Commissioner of Rajshahi Metropolitan Police Humayun Kabir, Deputy Commissioner Hamidul Haque and Superintendent of Police Muhammad Shahidullah were present on the occasion. Special prayers were offered seeking divine blessings for Bangabandhu, four national leaders and martyrs of the War of Liberation and peace and progress of the nation at mosques, temples, pagodas, churches and other places of worship. District Information Office screened video footage and clippings on life and works of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman at different road crossings in the city. Improved diets were served to the inmates of all hospitals, upazila health complexes, jails, vagabond centers, shishu paribar and orphanages.
Apart from, a firework programme has been arranged at Collectorate building premises in the evening. Various educational institutions including Rajshahi University, Rajshahi University of Engineering and Technology, Rajshahi College and Rajshahi Medical College also celebrated the birth centenary through separate programmes elaborately.
