The Department of Zoology of Jahangirnagar University (JU) will organise a daylong bird fair at the university campus on February 7 in assistance with Forest Department’s ‘Strengthening Regional Cooperation for Wildlife Protection Project (SRCWP).
The fair will feature inter-university bird identification competition, exhibition of photographs on birds, children’s painting competition on birds and prize-giving ceremony.
Maximum two groups from each university will get chance to participate in the competition. The groups will have to identify birds, hearing their (birds) chattering. Students of universities, colleges and schools can take part in the contests.
The Zoology Department organises the fair every year with a view to raising mass awareness about preserving birds.
The other co-organisers of the fair are Bangladesh Bird Club (BBC), IUCN, Arannayk Foundation and Wild-life Rescue Center (WRC) of JU.
