Dhaka’s Birdem General Hospital has closed its intensive Care Unit (ICU) after patient undergoing treatment there tested positive for Covid-19.
The authority also have sent 40 of its doctors, nurses and staffers to home quarantine after getting the test report that the patient is positive of coronavirus infection on Wednesday.
“The patient was admitted to the hospital’s nephrology department on April 14 with multiple complications. Later, the doctors discharged him with a suggestion for coronavirus test. In the meantime he was shifted to the ICU on April 18. On Wednesday his test report showed that he is Covid-19 positive,” Dr Nazimul Rahman, Joint Director of the Hospital told journalists.
The patient’s samples were sent to the Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU) lab for coronavirus test, he said.
The patient was shifted to Kurmitola General Hospital, soon after receiving the test result, Dr Nazim said.
The Joint Director said also that the first test conducted by the BSMMU showed negative for coronavirus.
