BIRDEM doctor’s body found in hospital room

The body of a doctor was found in the room of a director of a city hospital in Matuail area on Friday evening.
The deceased was identified as Mobarak Karim, a doctor of Anesthesia Department of BIRDEM General Hospital, said Nasir Uddin, Sub-Inspector (SI) of Demra Police Station.
He said, “The law enforcers recovered the hanging body of the deceased from a room of Friendship Specialised Hospital and Digital Diagnostic Center in the city’s Matuail.”
Jamal Hossain, director of the Matuail hospital uses that room, where the victim’s body was found, the police official said.
The SI said, the law enforcers recovered the victim’s body after breaking open the door and added an investigation will be held.
“We primarily suspect that it is a suicide case. The details of the incident can be unearthed after we receive the postmortem report,” he added.
He further said, the body has been sent to the morgue of Sir Salimullah Medical College Hospital and Mitford Hospital for an autopsy.
Mainul Islam, brother-in-law of the victim, claimed, “Director Jamal called Dr Mobarak on Thursday afternoon over telephone. He (Mobarak) visited him after getting the phone call.
His mobile phone remained switched off since Friday afternoon.
“I have heard that police found scar marks around his neck. He might have been murdered,” Mainul added, claiming that Jamal of the Matuail’s hospital remained absconding after the killing of Mobarak.
