UNB, Dhaka :Sajeeb Wazed Joy, ICT adviser to Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, on Wednesday inaugurated the test operation of the biometric registration system of mobile phone SIM (Subscriber Identity Module) cards.Joy opened the system by registering his SIM card of state-run mobile phone operator Teletalk at the secretariat.Secretary of Post and Telecommunication Division Md Faizur Rahman Chowdhury, also chairman of Board of Directors of Teletalk Bangladesh, and managing director of Teletalk Gias Uddin Ahmed handed over the registration paper to Joy after completing the registration process.Earlier, Joy said Bangladesh was the second country to introduce biometric SIM card registration system.He thanked all officials and staff of Teleltalk and Post and Telecommunication Ministry for introducing the system successfully.State Minister for Post and Telecommunication Tarana Halim said, “We have started the SIM registration system under a pilot project.” The main project will be started on December 16, she added.Later, Joy took part at a meeting with the officials of Teletalk and NID wing of the Election Commission.
