Biodiversity Survey and Conservation report was handed over to Mayor of Chattogram City Corporation (CCC) AJM Nasir Uddin at the Auditorium of City Corporation on Sunday .
The Survey was conducted in Sulakbahar of city corporation Ward no. 8. Bio-diversity Research Group of Bangladesh (BRGB) conducted the survey.
City Mayor in his speech said that most of the people in our Country don’t Know the status of biodiversity. Chattogram has a rich natural beauty. We have hill ,sea and a vested area of forest.
The City mayor added that we started Biodiversity Survey from one word gradually we span this in 41 words of the City Corporation.
Answer to the question of a journalist city mayor added that all necessary Measures will be taken to safe our Biodiversity for our future generation. Chief Executive Officer Shamsuddoha presided the meeting.
Project Director Prof Dr Badrul Amin Bhuiya, Chairman of BRGB explain the necessity to save our biodiversity through a power presentation .
He said that bio-diversity has became under threat around the world . We need to plant variety of trees .
During urban development and land use we must stopping the tendency of hill cutting and increasing slum area and dumping of trash and debris. Loss of diversity could have an emotional impact on people.
Among others, present in the project report handover ceremony,Prof.Dr. Mohammed kamal Hossain of Chattogram University and Prof Dr. Mohammed Ismail Miah of CU, Former Environmental Advisor of JICA and DFID Prof Noman Ahmed Sddiqi, Dr. Shohidur Rahman ,Asst. Scientist , CVASU, City Councilor Mohammed Morshed Alam, Chief Engineer Lt. Colonel Shohel Ahmed, Press Club General Secretary, Chowdhury Mohammed Farid and Town Planner AKM Rezaul Karim.
