A domestic flight of Biman Bangladesh airlines on Wednesday made an emergency landing at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport with 66 passengers on board after wheel No.4 of the rear side of the aircraft got damaged.
Thus the aircraft escaped a major mishap.
The Biman authority formed a four member committee headed by Deputy Chief of Flight Safety Department Captain Enam. The committee will submit the probe report within 15 working days.
Shakil Meraj, General Manager of Biman said “The Dash Q-8 aircraft landed safely and none of the passengers was hurt despite malfunctioning.”
He said the flight name Ashiq found that one the craft’s four rear wheels apparently disjointed from the body of the aircraft when it was taking off from Syedpur Airport for Dhaka at 9:33am.
The flight Pilot then instantly alerted HSIA to take preparation for emergency landing. Sources said that the Civil Aviation Authority immediately took preparation of emergency landing for the aircraft.
Shakil Meraj said, “The pilot took 10 minutes more than its scheduled landing time at 10:25am. He made a low fly over the runway to watch the probable difficulties. But everything took place smoothly.”
Normal operation of HSIA has been restored after the incident, he added.
