Bilateral ties with India to be strengthened: President

India is eager to extend all assistance and cooperation to Bangladesh for its overall development, visiting Speaker of India’s Lok Sabha Sumitra Mahajan said.
The Lok Sabha Speaker said this during a courtesy call on President Abdul Hamid at Bangabhaban here on Saturday.
During the meeting, Sumitra Mahajan said Bangladesh has made significant progress in socioeconomic development.
She also apprised the President of different aspects of the ongoing two-day South Asian Speakers Summit here and said that all will have to work together for the development of the South-Asian region.
President Hamid said the recent high-level visits between Bangladesh and India have strengthened the bilateral relations of the two countries and hoped the ties would strengthen in future.
He thanked Sumitra Mahajan for the passage of the Land Boundary Agreement (LBA) by the Indian parliament unanimously.
President Hamid also said that the implementation of Bangladesh, Bhutan, India and Nepal (BBIN) Motor Vehicle Agreement (MVA) would play a role in extending trade relations in the region.
