Bilateral monitoring of Rooppur nuclear work progress and quality begins

Bilateral monitoring of progress and quality of work of the country’s largest Rooppur nuclear power project began on Tuesday. High-level representatives from Bangladesh and Russia and nuclear experts are taking part in the two-day observation on February 10. Bangladesh is led by Minister of Science and Technology Architect Yafes Osman and on behalf of Russia by Loxin, First Deputy Director General of Rosatom, the state nuclear agency, and President of Atomstroy Exports.
The Ministry of Science and Technology of Bangladesh, Bangladesh Atomic Energy Commission, Bangladesh Atomic Energy Regulatory Authority and Atomstroy Export, Rose Energoatom, Russia’s nuclear regulatory body and nuclear experts from different areas are monitoring the overall progress, monitoring and quality of work on behalf of Russia.
On the eve of the observation, Minister for Science and Technology Architect Yafes Osman said that multiple meetings would be held after monitoring and observation in a friendly atmosphere with the top level representatives of Russia, an ally of the Liberation War. He said that it is very important to implement the project as per the schedule while maintaining the quality of work.
In this regard, the project director said. Shaukat Akbar said that a 10-member high-level delegation from Russia and Rosatom, Atomstroy Export, Rose Energoatom, Russian Nuclear Regulatory Body and nuclear experts and senior officials from different areas have come for observation and monitoring. In two days, quality monitoring along with the overall progress of the project work will be done jointly by experts from both the countries. Multiple meetings have been organized on current and next year’s schedule. He said Russian authorities would meet with their contractors and sub-contractors and give instructions.
It is learned that the high-level team arrived in Dhaka on Monday on a charter flight from Russia. Russian authorities arrived at the Rooppur project area in Ishwardi with two helicopters around 12 noon on Tuesday.
A high-level delegation of Bangladesh led by Science and Technology Minister’s Architect Yafes Osman arrived in Rooppur from Dhaka on Monday afternoon.
Mr. Fera Pantov of the Russian Nuclear Regulatory Body, Mr. Petrov of the Rose Energoatom, Additional Secretary of the Ministry of Science and Technology (Rooppur Project) Mohammad Ali Hossain, Chairman of the Atomic Energy Commission Prof. Dr. Sanwar Hossain, Alok Chakraborty, Chief Administrative Officer of the project, Ruhul Quddus, Site In-Charge and other nuclear experts of Bangladesh participated in the monitoring and monitoring activities.
