Muktijuddher Bijoy Mela (Victory Fair marking the coming Victory Day on December 16) has begun on the M A Aziz Stadium premises in Chittagong.
The fair, commemorating the great victory on December 16 in 1971 against the occupational Pakistani forces, was formerly inaugurated on Thursday around 3:00pm here.
President of Chittagong city unit of Awami League also former Mayor of Chittagong City Corporation (CCC) Alhaj A B M Mohiuddin Chowdhury inaugurated the ceremony as chief guest. Although, the fair has started on December 1, the formal inauguration ceremony was held on Thursday.
Among others, Expatriate and Overseas Employment Minister Nurul Islam, CCC Mayor AJM Nasiruddin, Khurshed Alam Sujan, Dr Muhitul Alam and Freedom Fighter Commander Shahabuddin Ahmed were present on the occasion.
Muktijoddher Bijoy Mela Parishad organised the fair.
Discussions on the war of liberation, injured freedom fighters’ rally, drama on the liberation war, music show, film show on the war of liberation and reception to the successful students will be held during the fair, sources concerned said.
