Biggest single day spike in cases, death toll 155

In the biggest spike of Coronavirus infection Bangladesh on Tuesday recorded 549 fresh cases, taking the total number of infected people to 6,462.
But, death toll from the virus witnessed a fall as three people died on the day. The total death is now 155.
“All the deceased were Dhaka residents above 60”, said Dr Nasima Sultana, Additional Director General of the Directorate General of Health Services in a virtual bulletin on Tuesday.
Eight patients have been cured, while a total of 139 have recovered so far, said Nasima adding a total of 4,332 samples were tested across the country on Tuesday.
In the last 24 hours till 2:30 pm on Tuesday, sample collection increased by 2.79 percent and testing by 13.64 percent compared with that of the previous day.
In the meantime, authorities have taken 111 Covid-19 suspected individuals into isolation, making the total number of isolations at 1,284. So far, 785 have been released.
According to data from the Institute of Epidemiology Disease Control and Research, 68 percent are males and 32 percent are females of the total number of covid-19 patients.
Besides, 26 percent of people aged 21-30 were affected, followed by 24 percent of age 31-40 years.
Furthermore, Dhaka is holding highest infected people with 3,095 while Narayangonj 849, Gazipur 318, Kishorgonj 194, Narshingdi 142 and Mymensingh 117, according to IEDCR.  
So far, the government has distributed 1,309,148
personal protective equipment (PPE) and has 3,41,444 in stock. Around 18,050 PPE were distributed on Tuesday.
Around 341 ICU beds, and 102 dialysis units, and 9,738 isolation beds are available for the treatment of coronavirus infected patients in the country.
According to the latest data provided during the bulletin, the country is capable of housing 30,635 people for institutional quarantine in 601 institutions.
Around 76,840 people are in quarantine in total, while 104,953 have been released so far.
Till date, the virus has claimed at least 211,221 people globally and infected more than three million.
