Cost Guard east zone commander M Nuruzzaman told media that the yaba tablets were brought from Myanmar.The traffickers, however, managed to flee the scene sensing the presence of Coast Guard members.
A team of BCG East Zone raided on an engine boat waiting at Sattar Majhir Ghat area at around 5 am,and recovered 3 lakh 90 thousand Yaba tablets from the boat, said Zonal Commander M Nuruzzaman Sheikh. “Sensing the presence of BCG members, the smugglers managed to flee leaving the boat”, the BCG commander said adding that the value of the tablets would be about TK 19 crore.None was arrested in this biggest haul of yaba till writing this report.
The tablets recovered, were handed over to the Narcotics Control Department, he added.
