The country’s biggest Jamaat of Eid-ul-Azha Namaj will be held at historic Sholakia Maidan in Kishoreganj town keeping the tradition of the last 190 years.
More than two and half
lakh people are expected to attend the Eid congregation at Sholakia Maidan. Principal Maulana Md. Hafizur Rahman will lead the Eid prayer.
Dewan Haybat Khan, the sixth generation of the Issa Khan, the ruler of Bengal, donated seven acres of land for the Sholakia congregation.
Deputy Commissioner Md. Azimuddin Biswas said, all arrangement have been completed for prayer at 9.00 a.m.
Sholakia will wear a festive look on the eve of Eid Jamaat. Many welcome arches have been erected and roads decorated with colourful banners and buntings.
Two special Train services from Bhairab to Kishoreganj and Mymensingh to Kishoreganj and BRTC service from Dhaka to Kishoreganj will travel devotees.
Kishoreganj District Administration has tightened security measures in the town and the Sholakia Maidan for Saturday.
In this connection, the senior officials of the law enforcement and the intilligence agencies will remain active. Sholakia management committee’s special meeting was held at D.C conference room with Deputy Commissionaire Md. Azimuddin Biswas in the chair.
Police Super Md. Anowar Hossain Khan has said that a four-tier security arrangement has been taken up in the town ahead of the Eid-ul-Azha. Four platoons of BGB, RAB, 10 Platoon Armed Police, and Battalion Ansar have been deployed in the town. There is no threat to the Eid-ul-Azha celebration due to massive security measures taken by the law enforcing agencies.
D.C Md. Azimuddin Biswas said, the total area will remain under CCTV cameras, dog squads, bomb disposal unit of RAB and plain dressed law enforcers will patrol the area.
