The members of law enforcing agencies rescued a 22-day newborn girl at the time of selling her at Tk 20,000 to an issueless couple at Kazipara village under Hemayetpur Union in Pabna Sadar upazila on Wednesday afternoon.
The baby accompanied by its parents have been brought to Pabna from the
capital Dhaka with the help of two middlemen.
At least four persons, including its parents, were arrested in connection with the attempt to sell the newborn, said Habibur Rahman, Sub-Inspector (SI) of Pabna Sadar Police Station.
The detained men are newborn’s father carpenter Helal Uddin, its mother Rubina Khatun, and its grandparents Abdullah and Mehrin, the police offical said.
“We are trying to hand over the baby to its parents in presence of the local represaentives as nobody gets any chance to sell the newborn,” the SI said.
