BIA president stresses for strengthening insurance sector

President of Bangladesh Insurance Association (BIA) Sheikh Kabir Hossain on Monday has underscored the need for strengthening country’s insurance sector with a view to boosting economy.
“If the insurance sector becomes more stronger, the economy of the country will further go ahead”, said the BIA president while addressing a meeting with the reporters of Insurance Reporters Forum (IRF) at the conference room of BIA.
The BIA president said, country’s insurance sector did not flourish due to multifarious difficulties.
Many buildings of the country have no any insurance coverage, but the owners bound to open insurance against their building for getting bank loan, he observed.
The building owners deliberately did not perform the insurance formalities after completing the construction of the building, he claimed.
The BIA will organize workshop for the members of the IRF to gather the knowledge on the necessity of the insurance, he declared.
“My organization would provide all assistance to the reporters to raise their awareness on insurance”, he said.
The BIA president urged the all concerned to take necessary steps for strengthening country’s insurance sector for attaining a vibrant economy.
Vice-President of Karnaphuli Insurance Company Nasir Uddin Ahmed Pavel, Chief Executive Officer of Rupali Insurance Company PK Roy, Managing Director of Prime Life Insurance Company Ltd Kazi Mortoza Ali, Convenor of IRF Golam Samdani and Members Secretary Gazi Anwarul Hoque, Ashraful Islam and Monir Hossain were also participated the meeting.
