Bhutanese Ambassador Pema Choden paid a courtesy call on Speaker Dr Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury at her office on Sunday.
During the meeting, they discussed various bilateral issues including trade and investment.
Terming the existing relations between Bhutan and Bangladesh ‘excellent’, Choden said the ties would be strengthened further in the days to come, it said.
Speaker Shirin Chaudhury said Bhutan recognized Bangladesh soon after the independence as the first country and Bhutan always stand beside Bangladesh’s socioeconomic and political issues.
During their meeting, the ambassador asserted Speaker Chaudhury that Bhutanese Speaker accepted her invitation and expected to visit Dhaka in December 2014 or January 2015.
The envoy informed Dr Shirin Sharmin about the business of Bhutanese parliament and expressed that the relationship with the two parliaments and lawmakers would also improve.
Choden expressed that the existing relation with the two countries would expand and expected that Bangladesh would stand beside Bhutan for various important issues in future.
