Bhutan is highly keen to develop the existing trade relation with Bangladesh. Bhutan businessmen are going to have a business meeting with the Bangladesh leaders on 12 April at Dhaka. This meeting is going to be held during a state visit of Bhutan Prime Minister Lotay Tshering to Bangladesh. It was discussed at a meeting on Sunday at FBCCI between Bhutan Ambassador in Bangladesh Sonam Tobden Rabgye and FBCCI Senior Vice-President Sheikh F Fahim.
Bhutan Prime Minister along with their Foreign Minister and the Health Minister will be attending the 12 April meeting. A 20 member business delegation representing the construction, power and energy, hospitality and tourism and the FMCG sector will participate in the meeting. Private Industry and Investment Advisor of Bangladesh Prime Minister, Commerce Minister and the State Minister for Power and Energy will also join at the program.
Sheikh F Fahim turmed the existing trade relation between Bangladesh and Bhutan very significant, and expressed his interest to take this relation into a new height. FBCCI Vice President Md. Muntakim Ashraf and its Director Sujib Ranjan Das took part in the discussion. FBCCI Secretary General Hussain Jamil also joined the discussion.
It may be mentioned that, Bangladesh exported total amount of $3.72 million to Bhutan in 2018-19 and imported the amount of $18.10 million. The principal export products of Bangladesh to Bhutan are Agricultural Products, Ores, slag and ash, Woven Garments, Plastics and plastic articles and Pharmaceutical products etc. The import items from Bhutan are Mineral Products, Vegetable Products, Iron and Steel, Textiles & Textile Articles etc.
