Bhatiari is a place situated at Bhatiari Union in Sitakunda in Chattogram. It is famous for tourism spot in Chattogram. The place is surrounded by several lakes and hills. The hilly area in Bhatiary is under control of Bangladesh Army.
Bhatiari is known for its natural environment. The main tourism spot of Bhatiary is the hills. People gather here in the afternoon to see the sunset from the top of the hill. The Hathazari-Bhatiary link road connects Bhatiary to Rangamati or Khagrachari. This road is maintained by Bangladesh Army. There is also a golf club in Bhatiray area which is also a tourist attraction.
Ever notice how charming the nature is when it is covered with the shawl of silence? Sometimes there are so many places in the world that finds a sweet little corner in your mind. Those travelling to Chittagong can find Bhatiary a beauty in close proximity. Situated by the Dhaka-Chittagong highway, Bhatiary can be reached by Ranger Jeep or ‘leguna’ from the Bangladesh Military Academy (BMA) gate, which comes several kilometres before the Chittagong City Gate.
It takes approximately 20 minutes to reach Bhatiary Lake from BMA Gate. The twisted road of Bhatiary meandering through the marvelous lake, flanked on both sides with sloping green hills, will make you wonder about the craftsmanship of the Creator, literally.
Maulana Rumi said: “Silence is language of God, all else is poor translation.” With this place, whenever I get time, I always move in seeking silence. Places like Bhatiary give me the opportunity to feel the serenity of nature.
I actually don’t know how many times I have visited Bhatiary. I lived near the place. Chittagong University is an hour journey from this place. So, I visited the place countless times with my seniors, classmates and friends. It is kind of making memory so that you can chew on it at other times. The place is maintained by Bangladesh Army.
There is a restaurant there known as ‘Sunset Point’ because you can see the setting sun from there, with reddened ships shimmering in the distance with the glow of the departing sun. This provides you with an unparallel view of the city.
Besides Sunset Point, there is also a café named ‘Café 24’ within few kilometres where there is also a lake-cum-park providing you with lunch, dinner, boat ride etc. I saw people visiting there with their loved ones, but it’s ok if you prefer going alone. Sometimes, nature stops talking to you when a great talker sits by you.
