Poet Shamsul Islam Palash of Bhangura upazila of Pabna has been suffering from cancer for a long time.
UNO Mohammad Nahid Hasan Khan visited him with some gift items and a bouquet of flowers on Tuesday. The poet was overwhelmed with emotion after getting the UNO. He could not speak but broke down in tears. UNO handed over flowers and gifts to poet. The poet's wife Fatima Bailey said Shamsul Islam Palash had been suffering from cancer for several months. He also lost his speech due to stroke.
Due to lack of financial means, he is not going to get proper treatment. She has sought the attention of the Prime Minister for the better treatment of her husband.
