Documents getting damaged: Bhangura post office in jeopardy

The Bhangura Upazila post office of Pabna is being damaged with its valuable furniture and important documents due to lack of repairs. The postmaster’s quarters on the second floor of this government office building have long since been abandoned.
It is reported that this post office was built in 1985. It has not been reformed since then.
As a result, the walls of the building have become a dam and the plaster is falling off.
The office cupboards and important documents kept by desk are being destroyed due to rain water leaking through its roof. In the damp environment of the office, the furniture and shelves of the officers and employees are rotting. Now the building has become risky.
 Nurul Islam and Maloy Kumar Deb of Saratnagar Bazar, the customers of this post office, said that the condition of the post office has become very miserable. Doors and windows are falling down due to lack of reforms. Despite being an important institution of the government, the authorities do not pay any attention to it.
They also said that the public has kept deposit of this post office at least Tk 50 crore. But there is no seating arrangement for customers. They are suffering while going to collect a profit every month.
Postmaster Nahida Sultana said the postmaster’s house had already been useless due to long-term without renovations.
The office’s strong room, toilet and postmaster’s office room have become completely unusable.
Besides, she had to run to the daily bank as she could not keep money in the strong room.
She informed the higher authorities in writing about this but no result was found.
Locals have sought immediate intervention of the concerned authorities for the renovation of the upazila post office.
